Generative AI, AI Generated users, And Simulacra game
This will be a super messy blog, but i really want to vent and tell people on how dangerous Generative-AI, how META will develop their AI-Generated users, and connection with Simulacra game...
For examples, they poison images you post online. And this software will steal your works so people can type anything they want, but the source for images they generate, were, well, your artwork. Not only images, people can manipulate such things on videos, 3D animations, even voice. A lot of artists, animators, moviemakers, even Seiyuus complain about this because, of course. Corporate see this as a thing to replace their workers and it already happened on so many fields but the ones that damaged the most is when it comes to creative fields.
Not only that, since everything is using Generative AI now, they pollute Google search results. And enable the usage of it by installing ChatGPT, Midjourney, and c.ai. Other than polluting and damaging online curation, the usage of Generative AI is a perfect tool for people on making hate speech, news manipulation, scams, basically fake engagement. Everything feels so... Robotic and... Soulless each time i open social media becaus of this. People also tend to be very illiterate because they prefer to just, make everything within a blink from these tools instead to actually try learn by training their cognitive skills and motoric skills by draw, read, or write stuff... A lot of sites keep offering you to use it or abuse their sites to generate your posts (yes, everything. Even your texts!) without consent. Turning off share to third parties probably is not a useful thing because no matter where you post, they will still use it anyway. Maybe, including this site i'm writing on right now.
Bot accounts are already worse enough and they are adding this to our homepage... And not only these apps/softwares i'm talking about, META is planning on making AI-GENERATED USERS FOR INSTAGRAM AND FACEBOOK. Which is... INSANE. Anyway, before we continue, this META information actually came from the video i saw on YouTube, it's from penguinz0 which you can click here.
Things that i want to tell the gist of it, is basically META wanted to create AI-generated users in order to keep advertisers and investors keep sponsoring their sites because, let's admit that. Facebook and Instagram keep increasingly being left with their users because it's either have too much irrelevant menu, nonsense Community Standards rules, too outdated for most people, and not to mention their annoying ads. With these "official" robot users, they'll have the ability to own their profile, posts, putting fake reviews, EVEN BEING ABLE TO MESSAGE YOU. Like, imagine enjoying your Sunday morning checking these sites and getting a message, it was from a freaking bot with fake interactions and responds, some people might traumadumping to them, overshare, and getting this private informations stolen (even though, you know, agreeing on Google already stole your infos before but this is even worse) which are pushing the Dead Internet Theory to become more real, and real now.
Social media, is not social media anymore to me. This is just, a very weird reality to come in, and i'm not surprised if people will go back to old ways to interact, offline gatherings, owning more physical media, remaking LiveJournal, Geocities, or even Blogspot just like me who remaking a blog after 14 years. I just want to admit that, internet wasn't fun and whimsical like it used to. I prefer getting jumpscared by a swf file of Slenderman or something similiar with that than seeing a generated image of a woman with six tits and eight fingers.
Okay, since i mentioned Simulacra in the title, why do i connect my previous explanations with this game? Planned AI-generated users in META reminds me a little bit with this game, though it has a little bit difference but i already saw the signs. Basically, Simulacra is a game where you need to save a girl who's missing and turns out she is getting her soul kidnapped from an entity that claim its name is "Simulacra", and how this method works? They lure their victims from a dating application, by impersonating other users and when they met, the ritual is happening (Just like its name, Simulacra literally means a copy, imitation, or an interpretation of something/someone.) And we have a certain time before she got completely killed or vanished. Maybe this sounds ridiculous years ago, but i'm afraid this sort to be more real if people keep implementing on robots to have similiar intellegence like us, or even more. They already create sites to make you being able to interact, and horrors in Simulacra game could eventually become real someday, we just never know when. And of course, when cybercrime happens, most of victims will be women and children, and i don't want anymore of this to happen.
Honestly, the biggest thing i want about all of this, is the regulations from government. To me, there should be a law that needs to rule about this. Generative AI shouldn't be a public use. A lot of people, specially women and children suffer because they got their information stolen, got their face used as a revenge porn victim (usually AI-generated images or even deepfake videos), even some of them ended up killing themselves because they cannot endure misinformation and bullying from people around them. Other than that, the usage of these softwares tend to put negative effects on environment because they use so much energy, even worse than search engine and of course, consumes a lot of electricity and water source for their server machines. And this is all started from unregulated use of a software and it should be limited and under surveillance. I'm praying the safety for everyone to face this.
But, do all of these chaos will make me stop creating? The answer is, no. It is totally stressful to face on, but it won't stop me for write and draw what i want. And one of the goals of life is try to find ways to make yourself happy, and that's what i do.
For now, you can protect your artwork by using Glaze or Nightshade, some drawing softwares also has AI disturbance on them. (Basically, it poisons AI softwares so they cannot completely mess with your creations.) I still have no idea with other media than images that has protection like this.
Hope this hurts.
